Our Goal
The goal of the Mayne Island Deer Management Society (MIDMS) is to eliminate the invasive fallow deer and reduce the Black Tail deer population to a size that our island can accommodate and that this work should be funded and supported by the Government of British Columbia.
Who We Are
We are a volunteer non-profit society created to advocate for provincial government action in support of the MIDMS goal and to engage the Mayne Island community in helping to achieve this goal.
The Society executive is made up of seven island residents: Jeanine Dodds, Marilyn Winterbottom, Gary Caroline, Malcolm Inglis, Peter Robinson, Robert Percival, and Michael Kilpatrick. Communications support: Robin Walsh.
The original Mayne Island Deer Committee was formed in 2013 as an outgrowth from meetings held by the Mayne Island Conservancy and the Mayne Island Residents & Ratepayers Association. Jeanine Dodds and Marilyn Winterbottom were part of that original Committee.
